Nobody buys a replacement basket for fun — you buy one because the coating has gone, something has cracked, or a part was missing from the box. It is rated situational rather than useful because the answer to 'should I replace it?' is genuinely a calculation: a basket is often a substantial fraction of what the whole appliance cost, and availability three years after purchase is unpredictable. That calculation is the content of this page.
What it actually does
Restores a machine whose only failed component is a coated part, rather than replacing an appliance whose motor, element and controls are all fine.
The basket and the crisper plate are the wear items in an air fryer. Both carry a non-stick coating, both are handled and washed constantly, and both fail long before the motor or the element does. Whether you can buy another one determines whether a five-year-old appliance is repairable or refuse.

- Coating that has begun to peel or flake — the point at which the part has reached the end of its life
- A cracked or warped basket, drawer or plate
- A crisper plate lost or missing from the box, without which the machine cannot air-fry properly
- Wanting a spare so one can be washed while the other is in use, on a machine used daily
When it gets in the way
- A machine also showing electrical symptoms — cutting out, not heating, a burning smell — where the basket is not the problem and the appliance should be checked rather than re-parted
- Third-party parts sold as universal, which are fitted by dimension and no manufacturer in this catalogue publishes the dimensions needed to confirm a fit
What to use instead
Nothing, and that is the honest answer. A worn coating cannot be re-coated at home, and a machine used without its crisper plate is a small convection oven with the food sitting in its own fat. If the part cannot be bought, the appliance is at the end of its life.
Using it safely
- Fit only a part the manufacturer sells or specifies for your model. A basket that nearly fits leaves gaps in the airflow path and can foul the drawer mechanism.
- Replacing a basket, drawer, crisper plate or rack is the whole of what an owner should do. Anything requiring the housing to be opened is a job for the manufacturer or a qualified engineer.
- A peeling coating is a reason to stop using that part, not a cosmetic matter.
Looking after it
The way to not need this page is to keep metal off the coating and abrasives out of the sink, which every manufacturer in this catalogue asks for and which is the whole of coating care.
