The air fryer runs but does not heat
There are three things worth checking, all of them external. Beyond those, this is a fault for the manufacturer.
Stop and read this first
Do not open the housing, and do not attempt any repair to the element, the thermal cut-out, the wiring or the control board. These appliances draw between 1.4 and 2.7 kilowatts through components that carry mains voltage, and a heating element repaired badly is a fire risk in a kitchen. If the plug, cable or socket is discoloured, warm, or has a burning smell, stop using it immediately, unplug it, and have the socket checked by an electrician as well as replacing the appliance.
What is happening
An appliance whose fan runs but which produces no heat has a small number of user-checkable causes and, beyond them, an internal fault. AirfryerHQ gives no repair advice for the second case and will not, because the appliance is a sealed mains device carrying a heating element.

Is the fan running and the display lit?
- Yes
- No — nothing at all — Check the socket and try another appliance in it before assuming the air fryer is at fault. If the socket is fine, this is a manufacturer question.
Does the drawer close with a definite click or resistance at the end?
- Yes
- No, it feels loose or does not go all the way in — Check the runners for food debris — it is usually a chip.

Commonest first. It is almost always the boring one, and a page that walks you through the exotic causes before the obvious one has given you a longer path to a fixed dinner.

The drawer or door is not fully closed
Every one of these appliances has an interlock that cuts the element when the chamber is open. A drawer that has been pushed in but not seated will run the fan and the display while the element stays off. Food debris on the runners is the usual reason it will not seat.

A time and temperature were set but the cycle was never started
Many models require a separate start press after the settings are entered, and the display looks identical either way.

An internal fault — element, thermal cut-out, or control board
Heating elements fail, and thermal cut-outs trip permanently after an overheat event. Both present exactly like this. Neither is a domestic repair.

The appliance is on a mode that does not use the main element
Dehydrate, prove and keep-warm modes run at low power by design. On a multicooker, a pressure or slow-cook programme does not use the crisping element at all.

The fixes in full
- Take the drawer right out, clear the runners, and push it fully home
Remove the drawer completely, look along the runners and the rear of the cavity for food debris, clear anything you find, and push it back until it seats. This is the commonest cause and the easiest fix.
You will know it worked when: The element glows within a minute of starting a cycle.
- Check whether the cycle actually started
On most models the timer counts down only once started, and setting a time is not the same as starting. Look for a countdown rather than a static number.

- Check which mode is selected
Dehydrate, prove and keep-warm run at low power by design and will feel like a fault if you were expecting to roast. On a multicooker, confirm you are on a crisping programme rather than a pressure or slow-cook one.
- Stop using it and contact the manufacturer
If the drawer seats properly, the cycle is running, and the mode is right, the fault is internal. Stop using the appliance and contact the manufacturer with the model identifier from the rating plate. If it is within warranty this is straightforward; if it is not, replacement is almost always the sensible course for an appliance of this value.
