The appliance is behaving oddly
The buttons or touchscreen do not respond
Check for a lock and a drawer interlock before concluding anything. Both make a working appliance look dead.
What is happening
An unresponsive panel is frightening and usually trivial. Two mechanisms account for most of it, and both are the appliance deliberately refusing input rather than failing to receive it.
Why it happens
Commonest first. It is almost always the boring one, and a page that walks you through the exotic causes before the obvious one has given you a longer path to a fixed dinner.

The drawer or lid is not fully closed
